Below you can listen to different read alouds from books in my at home library. There are some reading comprehension questions that you can answer once you have finished listening to the story.

Below are read alouds of some of my favorite children's books.
COMPREHENSION QUESTIONS
Please note that these questions can be used after listening to one of the stories I posted or after reading books from the library you have at home. These questions can be used to practice oral comprehension or written comprehension.
Fiction Comprehension Questions
Describe the setting.
What is the problem in the story?
Explain why the title is a good title.
List the 4 main events in the story.
What was the solution to the problem in the story?
What in the story could really have happened?
Was the main character in the story good or bad? Explain your answer.
Draw a picture to show the problem in the story.
What part of the story was the funniest? The saddest? The most exciting? Why?
How else could the story have ended? Why do you think that?
By the end of the story, how do you think the character felt? How did the main character feel at the end of the story?
Describe the beginning, middle and end.
Name one character trait that was shown in the book you read. Use details from the book in your answer.
What do you do that is just like what the person in the story did?
What is the author’s message or main idea?
How does the story end?
What would you do if you could go to where the story takes place?
If you had to cook a meal for the main character what would you cook? Why?
NON-FICTION READ ALOUDS
Non-Fiction Comprehension Questions
Share something you already know about the topic.
Define a word from the text.
Label a picture, map, or diagram from the text.
Explain why the text has the title it does.
What is the text mainly about?
What are the most important ideas to remember from this text?
Why is the topic significant?
What questions would you ask the author about this topic?
Share what you’ve already learned and how you will use this information in your life.
How was this text similar to others you have read?
What conclusions can you draw after reading this text? What in the text makes you think that?
What would be another good title for this text? Why?
What information would you add to the text?
Design a new book cover for this text. What would it look like? Why?
Create a poem about this topic.
What changes would you recommend for this text? Why?
Would you recommend this text to a friend? Why or why not?
Do you agree with the author? Explain why or why not
