ALL ABOUT MRS. BARTON
Hello! My name is Barrett Barton and I am extremely excited to to be your STEM teacher this year. I am thrilled to start my eighth year of teaching at Claxton Elementary and McNair Elementary. Previously, I spent one year teaching second grade at William W. Estes Elementary located in Asheville, NC. I also taught first grade at White Oak Elementary located in Holly Springs, NC for one year and at Brooks Museums Magnet Elementary located in Raleigh, NC for five years. I am excited to get to know you and be your teacher!
I grew up in Raleigh, NC and attended Washington G.T. Elementary of WCPSS. During high school my family and I moved to Charlotte, NC. I returned to Raleigh to attend Meredith College where I received my degree in Child Development and K-5 teaching license.
My parents live in Raleigh, NC and my brother just graduated from the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!!) My husband and I met while I was attending Meredith College and he was attending NC State in 2013. He introduced me to my love of NC State football! We have moved a lot in the past 3 years because of the program my husband was completing. We moved to Greensboro this summer and are excited to explore a new city together.
My entire life I have been surrounded by teachers. My dad's three sisters and my mom are teachers and I am proud to have followed in their footsteps. I have a passion for making learning fun for all students. My favorite part of teaching is seeing the spark when students learn something new. I look to instill a love of learning in all of my students while also teaching them about the world around them. Thank you for sharing your child with me this year!
